Here’s the first talk in the new evening series called “Pray How Jesus Prayed”

Jesus’ whole life was based on prayer. One day, his disciples asked him to teach them a special prayer that would mark them out as his disciples. He seized the opportunity, not just to teach them one prayer, but to reveal to them the contents of his prayer life. He showed them how he related to his Father, how he got the right balance between personal need and the needs of the world, how he made sure he maintained a right heart attitude towards people—even the hard-to-love, ’sand paper’ people.

This was no simple, one-off prayer that rabbis taught their disciples… this was an insight into the prayer life of the Son of God—and an invitation to pray likewise. Because prayer was so central to Jesus’ life, if we want to live how Jesus lived, we need to learn to pray how Jesus prayed, and over the next six weeks, we’re going to be doing just that. We are going to take an in-depth look at what is commonly called The Lord’s Prayer, and in doing so, we’re going to learn how we can start to pray how Jesus prayed.

Here’s the first talk in the new morning series entitled “Standing at the Crossroads…which way should I go?”

Life is full of ‘crossroads’ experiences… which university should I go to? Should I stick with the job I’ve got or take the risk of making a change? Which school should we try to get our children in to? The decisions we make at the crossroads will have big implications for our lives, but often it’s really not clear which way we should go. If only there was a more straightforward way of making these decisions! The Bible says, “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls” (Jeremiah 6:16, NIV). How do we do that? How do we gain the confidence we need that we have got the right direction to go in when we are standing at any particular crossroads? This three-part series aims to provide answers to these important questions, and equip us better to ‘walk in the good way’. Crossroads are a part of life, but they’re not put there to confuse us or stress us out, but to lead us back to God and to teach us how to hear him better!

The title of this talk is “Why is it so hard to make decisions at the crossroads?”
